Bills pushed through the Senate in the middle of the night, without the opportunity for debate are problematic. It is fair to say that CFP does *NOT* support a secretive legislative process regardless of which party is responsible.
What a ridiculous article. CFP has no association with the Russian State, or ANY nation state. We are an organic movement based in Northern California. Please read our platform, and learn what we are all about.
To be clear: the CFP is an organization that supports the law. We do NOT encourage our members to withhold tax dollars that would otherwise be legally demanded by the federal government of the United States.
Interesting article none the less…
I always hate reading posts by self-important people who don’t understand what our movement has to offer all parties. Slandon’s article (linked below) illustrates the failure of the other CalExit movement in explaining our positions.
Half of our support comes from folks outside the state of California. The motive is irrelevant. What matters is support for our cause.
A user on another site asked this question to the CFP and I wanted to clarify our position. We are a Northern California based political organization that seeks a legal and peaceful secession from the United States of America. We are all patriots and respect not only our California home, but also the United States which we are currently a part of. We also respect the right to bare arms (I was gonna say “bear” arms, but didn’t think the pun would get many laughs). We feel the current ban on certain types of firearms in the state of California infringes on that rights.
First off let me say that Matteo Pizzolo is a fantastic story teller… but his dystopian view of a violent confrontation between federal forces and black-clad California Freedom advocates is beyond the pale. The CFP is a non-violent movement. We respect the legal path to secession, not bloody confrontation.
With 370+ billion paid in federal taxes, and a return of only 334 billion dollars, the answer seems to be a resounding: GOOD IDEA.
A quick note. Treason has a specific legal meaning. Under US law (18 U.S. Code § 2381) treason is defined as, and punishable commensurate with the following:
“Whoever, owing allegiance to the United States, levies war against them or adheres to their enemies, giving them aid and comfort within the United States or elsewhere, is guilty of treason and shall suffer death, or shall be imprisoned not less than five years and fined under this title but not less than $10,000; and shall be incapable of holding any office under the United States.”
Supporting the California Freedom Party does NOT make you a traitor, nor does it in anyway approach the crime of treason. We are an organization that operates within the law and are NOT enemies of the United States. We only wish to be allowed by the Unted States to leave and form our own country. Nothing more, nothing less.
Special thanks to the Platform Committee who are hard at work preparing the initial draft of the party platform. The CalExit movement has come a long way, and we wont let anyone derail our work.
